1) Part of the text (James 4:1-12) for today's sermon at church:
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
Our pastor pointed out that it doesn't just say here: "Resist the devil and he will flee from you." It says "Submit yourselves to God and then resist the devil and he will flee from you." If you try to resist the devil without submission to God, it just isn't going to work.
2) "And they'd [the Death Eaters] love to have me," said Harry sarcastically. "We'd be best pals if they didn't keep trying to do me in."
This particular quote wasn't from today's reading, but I've been reading Harry Potter 6 and Harry Potter 7 these last two weeks and this is a favorite.
3) "Also, I've been wondering what the difference is between smashed and crashed."
Mrs. Rice handed me her dictionary.
And then suddenly I didn't want to know anymore! That is the miracle of dictionaries!
from The Talented Clementine by Sara Pennypacker
This book is a really fun early reader book I picked up and read after finishing Harry Potter today. You have to meet Clementine!
